Conference on “Religion, Media and the Middle East”

The Beirut Institute for Media Arts (BIMA) will hold a conference about “Religion, Media, and the Middle East” from 2 to 5 October 2005 in Beirut, Lebanon. The conference will look at how religion, in the media, contributes to the shaping of Middle East. The themes will include a discussion on whether religious talk shows are reshaping Islam, whether media are contributing to the rise of fundamentalism and whether media are helping to unlock the debate on religion. The registration fee for the conference is US$ 80 (graduate students US$ 50).
