A new actor has appeared on the growing media market of the UAE. Sports100, a new free daily sports newspaper was launched on 31 May by Ashley Northcote, who was also behind the launch of the successful free daily 7Days. The paper is produced in the UK and printed in Dubai.
The launch of the newspaper coincides with the Football World Cup to ensure a high response from advertisers, Adline Media Coordinator Mr. Elie told APN. “Feedback from advertisers has been quite high after a first week in the market and the World Cup will help positioning the newspaper in the advertisers mind,” he said.
Published six days a week, the 24-page full color-tabloid has a print run of 30,000 and targets high-income men aged between 17 and 45 years. It is distributed mainly in shopping malls as well as hotels and restaurants. The daily will shortly apply for an audit with BPA Worldwide.
The print media market in the UAE is also expecting the arrival this autumn of a specialized business publication when the English-speaking daily Arabian Business Standard will be launched. It will be published by ITP in partnership with Emirates Media Inc.
