ICFJ Offers Fellowships in the US for Mid-career Editors

The International Center for Journalists is currently accepting applications for its nternational Journalism Exchange program. The program will select ten principal editors of daily newspapers from countries outside Western Europe and North America and with a minimum experience of five years.

The program is scheduled from 7 October to 11 November. Participants will spend a week in Washington DC to meet editors and learn about journalism and will later spend a month in an US newspaper any where in the country. A two-day visit to New York will close the experience.

The program covers round-trip airfare as well as domestic flights necessaries for the program, medical insurance, accommodation and per diem for meals and other expenses. During the four-week training in a newspaper, participants will be housed with newspaper professionals.

Eligibility criteria include level of newsroom responsibility, proficiency in English and journalistic experience. Applicants must submit a 300-word essay about his/her goals and how the program will be useful for his/her newspaper.
