Training Opportunities:
Free Online Course in ICT Journalism

The international Institute for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Penplusbytes is organizing a three-month online course that focuses on how to use ICT’s tools to generate and publish news content.

The course, that will run from 20 March to 20 May, will provide participants with the skills to research and publish online using the broad spectrum of available ICT tools. Theoretical knowledge of ICT journalism is also part of the curricula.

Participants will be expected to meet online via group discussion in a weekly basis and must devote at least five hours per week online. Basic computer skills are demanded. Basic journalism skills are a prerequisite to participation in the course. Those joining the training will receive regular resources during the course whether online or via CD ROM.

The Ghana- based Institute for ICT Journalism aims to provide support for the development of specialized skills in the area of ICT journalism and to equip journalists and media organizations with ICT skills in order for them to use this tool effectively in their day-to-day work related activities

Deadline for applications is 15 March 2006.
