Oman to license private TV station for the first time

The sultanate of Oman’s government will license a private TV station and three radio stations for the first time, according to an Oman News Agency (OMA) on 11 October.

The decision came after Oman’s Sultan Qaboos Bin Said approved a new broadcast law allowing private ownership in August 2004.

According to the report, the Ministry of Information accepted an application of the Oman Holding International for a private TV and radio station and another form SABCO Establishment for two radio stations. More applications are under consideration.
