New Pan-Arab Press Watchdog

A media watchdog group gathering twenty journalists from five Arab countries (Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Syria), is scheduled for launch next June, reports AFP (Agence France Presse). The increased pressure on media workers in the Arab world is the main reason for the creation of the "Free Media Workers Union". The watchdog, which is an initiative of the Egyptian-American human rights activist Saad Eddin Ibrahim, will be based in Cairo.
